The American activist and military expert Daniel Ellsberg revealed facts that indicate plans by the US authorities to launch a nuclear attack on the Soviet Union after the end of World War II.
The expert, known for revealing scandals related to the American authorities, is currently working on a new documentary entitled "The Doomsday Machine: Confessions of a Nuclear War Planner" and published excerpts from it on the Internet.
In his book, Ellsberg recalls the post-World War II events, Washington was planning to start new resistance against the Soviet Union.
The US leadership has seen more hard-line tactics, tested in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, to bomb nuclear cities in the Soviet Union.
On August 30, 1945, two weeks after Japan surrendered, Lieutenant General Leslie Richard Groves sent a letter to General Leslie Richard Groves with a document containing new targets for the nuclear attack, including 15 major Soviet cities, including Moscow, And 20 large Soviet cities include Leningrad (also called the city of Petersburg in the Soviet era).
