Iran has renewed its threat to prevent oil exports from countries in the region if its oil is banned from exporting, after confirming that it controls the Gulf, under tension with the United States, which imposed sanctions after its withdrawal from the nuclear agreement.
"If enemies are to prevent oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz, they will not export any oil from the region," said Iran's Chief of Staff General Mohammad Baqri.
Bagheri added that US forces and the rest of the foreign forces would pay dearly if any mistake was made in the region and that their losses would be substantial and would not achieve any of their objectives.
Maj. Gen. Bagheri pointed out that Iran closely monitors the movements of US forces in the Gulf waters and that it will be alerted and dealt with seriously if they violate international laws.
The Director of the Office of the island in Tehran, Abdul Qadir Fayez, that these statements bear important indications, especially as they graduated from the highest military official as that preventing Iran from exporting oil - which is the nerve of the Iranian economy - understood at home it is a declaration of war on the country.
Fayez pointed out that this statement is not the first of its kind issued by a senior military official or political, such as President Hassan Rowhani, but warned that officials did not talk about any closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
But the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, General Ali Reza Tenxiri, said earlier this week that the closure of the strait could be the most direct way to stop shipments from the Gulf, especially oil shipments.
Iranian leader Ali Khamenei confirmed last month that he supports the idea that preventing Iran from exporting its oil will lead to preventing all countries in the region from exporting oil across the Gulf.
Tehran has previously threatened to take military action in the Gulf to block oil exports from other countries in the region in response to US sanctions aimed at halting Tehran's oil sales. Washington maintains a fleet in the Gulf region to protect oil shipping routes.
Tensions between Iran and the United States have escalated since US President Donald Trump withdrew in May from a 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers that brought back sanctions against Iran.
Senior US officials have said they seek to stop Iran's oil exports entirely.
