Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim received a telephone call from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Thursday evening for the Foreign Ministry's portfolio in the elected Iraqi government.
In a statement to the Foreign Ministry, Pompeo said he hoped the two countries' bilateral relations would witness further development and prosperity in all fields.
For his part, the Foreign Minister stressed the importance of developing joint relations between the two countries, praising the important and vital role played by the United States of America in supporting Iraq in the face of terrorism during the past period and thanked the American counterpart for his contact.
