BAGHDAD / NINA / Independent MP in the National Alliance, Hussein al-Asadi, called on Saturday 1 March to hold a meeting for Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi and the President of Kurdistan, Massoud Barzani, to solve the crisis of the federal budget for the current year.
Al-Asadi said during a news conference at the parliament building today that al-Maliki, as a leader of a large bloc in the parliament is responsible for delaying the approval at the budget, in addition to holding the responsibility to the President of the Kurdistan region because of the differences of his bloc with the government of Baghdad about the file of oil.
He added that Motahedoon Coalition and its leader al-Nujaifi were also responsible for delaying the approval at the budget as the bloc is boycotting the parliament sessions, thus it is necessary to hold a meeting including al-Maliki, al- Nujaifi and Barzani to resolve the dispute and to instruct the bloc to attend the parliament sessions and pass the federal budget.
He added that the continuation of disapproving the budget will expose the state to collapse for this year and may continue for the coming months, because we 're going to the elections and the current parliament is coming near to its end.
