    The director of the Office of the Human Rights Commission in Basra, Mahdi al-Tamimi, on Friday the high rates of cancer, confirming 700 registered monthly average in the province of a population of about three million people.

    In the same context, a member of the Committee on Health and Environment Parliamentary Dr. Jawad al-Musawi, "The cancer patients in Iraq is increasing, especially in the southern regions, specifically in Basra."
    He added that "this is due to many natural and unnatural factors, most notably the increase in the population as well as the environmental changes in Iraq as well as wars and associated conventional and non-conventional bombardments through the use of uranium and the huge environmental pollution resulting from the work of oil companies and the absence of any controls A process to reduce that pollution ".
    The Basra MP Abdul Amir al-Mayahi, stressed that "Basra hospital is not ambitious to address these diseases, especially with the lack of medicines," adding that hospital doctors confirmed that the rise in large injuries and the causes of pollution in the province.
