The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Nabil Kazem Abdel-Saheb received the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Zhang Tao, and representatives of Huawei, a company specialized in communications and information technology.
A statement of the ministry, a copy of which was received by "Al-Nour News", stated that “at the beginning of the meeting on behalf of the Ministry of Higher Education, the minister thanked the Chinese stances towards the Iraqi people, especially in the field of providing the vaccine against the Corona epidemic, stressing at the same time the desire and direction of the educational institution in Iraq towards crystallizing cooperation with China in the scientific and technological field. ”
He explained that the memorandum of understanding signed between Iraq and China currently provides an important environment for cooperation and coordination between the universities of the two countries in terms of cultural exchange, noting that not a few numbers of Iraqi students are currently studying in accredited Chinese universities, while he called for knowledge investment in Iraq as it represents an important environment for scientific research. On the industrial, agricultural and economic levels, he called at the same time for the crystallization of a joint project regarding the smart university city.
In turn, Ambassador Zhang Tao stressed the Chinese side's readiness to fully cooperate in the field of higher education and scientific research with Iraq and launch training programs in coordination with Iraqi universities to develop skills and raise the level of technological capabilities in cooperation with specialized Chinese companies such as Huawei, pointing to the imminent opening of the electronic library and the Chinese Language Center. The statement read, "The two sides agreed during the meeting, which was attended by Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, Dr. Hazem Baqer Taher, to promote joint work through scientific twinning programs and scholarships in the fields of medicine, engineering and science, as well as creative opportunities for Iraqi students, donating advanced equipment to Iraqi universities and providing electronic laboratories."
For their part, representatives of the Huawei branch in Iraq said that they are ready to provide the latest technologies and solutions to Iraq and to enhance training areas in Iraqi universities.
