Finland appoints a new ambassador to Iraq

The President of the Finnish Republic, Sauli Niinistö, has appointed a new ambassador to Iraq, who will begin his work after the end of the work of the current ambassador in Baghdad, Vesa Heikkinen .
The Finnish newspaper Foriner said in a report that “the Finnish president has appointed Matti Lasila, the foreign affairs advisor, to be the chief of mission at the Finnish Embassy in Baghdad as of September 1 this year. Responsible for external energy relations and climate policy .
He added, "The new ambassador to Iraq, Matti Lasila, had served as his country's ambassador in Beirut between the years 2015 to 2018, and he also served as ambassador in Abu Dhabi for the period between 2007 to 2011, holding positions in Brussels, Prague, Geneva, Tehran, Dublin and Marseille ."
He continued, "La Sila has joined the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1987 and holds a master's degree in social sciences ."
The report indicated that "the current ambassador in Baghdad, Visa Heikkinen, will move to work as a permanent representative of Finland to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna, starting from September 1 next."
