The White House announced that it had informed some members of Congress before carrying out air strikes in Syria and Iraq, stressing that it is in close contact with its partners in the region.
The White House said in a statement that the air strikes targeting "Iranian-backed militias are justified," noting that President Joe Biden ordered these air strikes "to reduce escalation, and they were necessary and appropriate."
He added, "These air strikes are aimed at reducing the risk of escalation and have nothing to do with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin's visit to Washington," noting that he "looks forward to a meeting with the new Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, but the date has not been set yet."
And the US Department of Defense announced in a statement that "the US military forces launched, early today, under the direction of President Joe Biden, precision defensive air strikes against facilities used by Iranian-backed factions in the border area between Iraq and Syria." Ended 29 / h
