Iraq signs the third contract for the construction of a 525 megawatt solar power plant in Karbala and Babylon

{Economic: Al Furat News} The Chairman of the Ministerial Council for Energy and Minister of Oil, Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail, announced on Thursday the signing of the Norwegian company SCATEC and its allies to establish a 525 MW solar power plant in the holy Karbala and Babil governorates for the Ministry of Electricity.

Ismail said in a statement that {Al-Furat News} received a copy of it, that "the signing comes as a continuation of the Iraqi government's procedures in signing contracts with international companies to establish solar-powered electrical plants, leading to the production of 7,500 megawatts of clean energy before 2023."
He pointed out that "the agreement with Shutec Corporation and its allies represents the third contract for the construction of solar power plants, and what has been achieved this year by signing contracts with the French Total, the UAE's Masdar, and the Norwegian Shutec and its allies represents 40 percent within an intensive program to implement renewable energy projects."
The head of the Investment Authority, Suha Daoud Al-Najjar, said, "The project, which was signed with a consortium of Norwegian Astec companies, Egypt's Orascom and Iraq's Al-Bilal, represents an important step within the program of building and constructing electric power stations for generating clean energy."
The project will be implemented set up two solar power 525 Mika card watt in the provinces of Karbala and Babil, comes this signature within the program and the decision of the Ministerial Energy Council to set up Kahrouchmsah stations card 7500 MW in 2023 and operates the Authority to attract discreet international companies to complete the program of energy projects and renewable.
