The Minister of Electricity pledges to solve the problems of generation and distribution in Kirkuk and announces "overcoming obstacles"
Shafaq News/ The Minister of Electricity, Adel Karim discussed, on Wednesday, with the Governor of Kirkuk, Rakan Saeed Al-Jubouri, efforts to support and implement electricity projects in the province.
This came during a meeting held at the governorate's office and attended by a number of general managers, advisers and the ministry's staff, according to a statement received by Shafaq News Agency.
The Minister of Electricity, Adel Karim, said in a press conference on the sidelines of the visit, which was attended by Shafak News Agency correspondent, that "the ministry is in the process of solving the generation and distribution problems in Kirkuk, and next summer will be much better."
He added, "There was a problem with the Iranian company Sanir, which is working to complete the molasses plant project. Obstacles have been overcome, and the project is on the way to completion, and there will be an increase in the supply rate once the molasses project is completed by 320 megawatts."
The minister pointed out to "resolving outstanding issues with foreign companies operating in Dibs and Taza."
For his part, al-Jubouri said, "We find great importance in the visit of the minister and his active cadre to discuss the problems and challenges facing Kirkuk."
He added, "Kirkuk is an important city and it should receive greater attention and support for its citizens after the stability, reconstruction and coexistence it witnesses among all its components."
Al-Jubouri stressed, "Kirkuk needs to complete the Dibs power plant and increase the governorate's share of the national grid and the damage that affected the citizens of Kirkuk due to the lack of electricity supplied by the investor in the Kurdistan Region, in addition to the importance of supporting the governorate in delivering electricity, lines and transformers to the destroyed villages and liberated areas in a way that enhances stability efforts." And work to solve and address the problems of bottlenecks and their negative impact on the regularity of processing hours and the fairness of distribution.”
In the field of solar energy, the Minister of Electricity said, "Under the directives of the Prime Minister, Kirkuk will be equipped with 250 megawatts, after allocating the lands in coordination with the governorate, which promised us good."
He continued, "The summer interruptions were due to terrorist acts, and out of a total of 51 terrorist operations targeting the electrical system, Kirkuk's share was 22 operations, and this is one of the most important reasons that reduced the rate of processing."
