{Political: Aflat News} The Governor of Basra, the winning candidate in the elections, Asaad Al-Eidani, announced today, Sunday, his resignation from the membership of the House of Representatives.
In an official letter addressed to the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives, Al-Eidani attributed his decision “down to the desire of the Basra masses,” noting that “I have no objection, according to the law, from replacing me with the closest losing candidates in the first electoral district in Basra Governorate.”
It is noteworthy that Al-Eidani's resignation from the parliament is the second of its kind today, after the governor of Anbar, Ali Farhan Hamid, the winning candidate in the elections, announced a similar decision to submit his resignation from the parliament in favor of the candidate Ahmed Hamid Sharqi Farhan Al-Alwani.
