    {Economist: Al Furat News} The Minister of Planning, Khaled Batal Al-Najm, chaired today, Thursday, an expanded meeting of the National Initiative for Energy [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and Reducing Emissions Team, which is chaired by the Minister of Environment Jassem Al Falahi, and includes in its membership representatives of the relevant ministries and government institutions, the private sector and civil society.

     
    According to the ministerial statement, {Euphrates News} received a copy of it, that: "The meeting witnessed a review of the details of the national energy [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] initiative presented by Minister Jassem Al-Falahi, and a number of participants in the meeting presented their observations and visions regarding Iraq's energy strategy."

    Al-Falahi stressed, during the meeting, that "the Ministry of Planning is working to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and encourage the transition to a multi-economy of productive sectors," stressing "and increasing reliance on renewable energy sources that contribute to reducing gas emissions and environmental pollutants that cause global warming and affect many aspects of life."

    And he indicated that "our future directions are based on integrating the energy strategy within the five-year development plans and the 2030 sustainable development plan, to ensure the availability of the necessary financial allocations to implement the policies included in this strategy."

    Al-Falahi continued, "including encouraging solar energy projects, diversifying clean energy sources, supporting the manufacture and import of electrical appliances, equipment, cars and environmentally friendly mechanisms with high efficiency and low energy consumption, as well as continuing the policy of thermal insulation of newly constructed buildings, and obligating all state institutions to implement Quality standards in new projects, and the necessity to meet ISO requirements.
