The Basra Governorate Investment Commission announced, on Friday, the opening of the first investment center for nuclear medicine soon.
The head of the Basra Investment Commission, Alaa Abdul-Hussein, said that "Basra governorate will witness the opening of a nuclear medicine center soon," noting that "the center possesses modern devices and technologies for early diagnosis of cancer, and tests and treatments are available that are not available in other centers."
He added, "The investor, in cooperation with the American General Electric Company, installed the 40-ton core operating in the electromagnetic space to produce the radioactive material that is used in the early detection of cancer."
In an interview with the official news agency, Abdul-Hussein added, "The project area amounted to 1,500 square meters, while the cost of the center exceeded $8.5 million."
