Iraq is pursuing a senior official in the intelligence apparatus and seeking the help of Interpol
Shafaq News / On Thursday, the Federal Integrity Commission initiated procedures to recover a general director in the intelligence service, and to issue an arrest warrant against the accused who fled to the International Police (Interpol) at the level of Arab countries, under the follow-up and supervision of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani.
According to a statement received by Shafaq News agency, the recovery department of the authority clarified the procedures for pursuing the fugitive suspect (Dia Abdel Aziz Saad Al-Musawi), in preparation for the issuance of the International Red Notice of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
The department stated, "The procedures for recovering the accused, who holds the position of Director General in the Intelligence Service, have actually begun, and a recovery file has been organized against him in preparation for the issuance of the red notice."
It added that it had completed "the procedures required to issue an arrest warrant at the level of the Arab countries through the security and legal agencies concerned with law enforcement," noting that "this was done under the direct follow-up and supervision of the Prime Minister (Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani)."
A judicial arrest warrant was previously issued against the accused as a result of charges attributed to him related to corruption crimes represented in oil smuggling and exploitation of his job position.
