The former Iraqi Finance Minister, Abdul Amir Allawi, confirmed that he had no knowledge of the charges against him on the grounds of suspicions of corruption during the period of Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s government.
Allawi said, in an interview with the Emirati newspaper, "The National", which is published in English, that he "has no knowledge of the charges against him in the" theft of the century" investigation, pointing out that "his lawyer assured him that there was no warning registered with Interpol against him, and no letter was delivered." Or an actual notification to him or his legal team,” noting that “the government was unable to hold Al-Kazemi accountable, so it issued a signal against the second man in his government.”
He added, “Interpol did not make any contact with him and did not issue any arrest warrant, accusing the Sudanese government of trying to divert consideration.” It is about the massive corruption among the political class, mismanagement and negligence.
Allawi, who spoke to The National newspaper from his home in London, resigned from the post of deputy prime minister and minister of finance last August. A few months later he was accused of participating in the theft of $2.5 billion.
