The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, discussed with the management of the Midland Oil Company plans to raise refining capacity to five hundred thousand barrels per day in the year two thousand and twenty-six.
During his visit to the company, the Minister of Oil said that the refining sector falls within the priorities of the Ministry's work and future plans, and enjoys the attention and support of the Prime Minister. He pointed to the Ministry of Oil's endeavor to develop existing refineries and reduce the import of oil products.
Abdul-Ghani directed the company's management to expedite a study to add new units to the Samawah, Diwaniya and Najaf refineries, with the aim of increasing production and providing job opportunities for the people of the concerned governorates.
