Minister of Oil: We are working to raise the refining capacity of the refineries to reach self-sufficiency
Shafaq News/ The Minister of Oil confirmed, on Wednesday, the ministry's keenness to advance the distribution and liquidation sectors and work to raise the refining capacity of national refineries to reach self-sufficiency in oil products, and work to encourage investments in these areas.
This came while he chaired the leadership operations meeting, according to a statement issued by the ministry.
Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani said during the meeting that the government program emphasizes the importance of upgrading the services provided to citizens, by meeting their main needs, working to increase oil production and exports, developing infrastructure, and maximizing financial revenues from oil exports in support of the national economy.
He pointed to the need for companies and concerned departments to implement the vocabulary of the road map, which aims to achieve plans to improve the work of the ministry and the services provided to citizens, including:
Commitment to the timing of distributing white oil according to the fuel cards for all governorates.
- Expedite the implementation of plans to increase the production of national refineries to reach self-sufficiency.
- Work to maximize the strategic storage of petroleum products, and work to achieve a smooth flow of petroleum products from warehouses to citizens and distribution outlets.
- Commitment to the fuel plan for supplying the Ministry of Electricity with its needs of types of fuel.
Continuing the work of supplying private generators with the prescribed quotas of kerosene fuel.
- Expedite the development of new plans and mechanisms to increase the area of using LPG for vehicles by increasing the number of workshops specialized in installing the gas system in all governorates.
- Encouraging residential complexes, hospitals and restaurants to use liquid gas
Through tanks and pipelines systems, in cooperation with the Gas Filling and Services Company.
- Upgrading the work of distribution outlets and filling stations, and paying attention to providing services and facilities provided to citizens, as well as paying attention to the aesthetic taste and civilized interaction.
For his part, the Undersecretary for Liquidation and Distribution Affairs Hamid Younis confirmed the ministry’s success in implementing the fuel plan, despite the many challenges, by meeting the needs of electric power stations and generators of the governmental and private sectors, as well as directing the distribution of white oil according to the fuel card and the quotas established for the northern governorates. This will be followed by the distribution process to the central and southern governorates, and the ministry is proceeding with the implementation of plans to increase the national production of petroleum products, through the implementation of several projects to promote the refining industry.
It is reported that the leadership operations meeting is held regularly to discuss issues related to distribution, liquidation and fuel processing for electric power plants, the private sector and citizens.
