Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani stressed, on Thursday, the importance of achieving the optimal investment of the country's wealth of oil, gas and natural resources.
And the media office of the Prime Minister stated in a statement that Al-Sudani "chaired today a meeting devoted to discussing the integrated gas development project, in the presence of the CEO of the French Total Energy company, Patrick Pouyanne, in addition to the presence of a number of officials in the field of oil and energy on the Iraqi side."
He added, "During the meeting, they discussed files for the development of gas investment in Iraq, and the progress of work in a number of major strategic projects in this regard, the first of which is the burning gas investment project in the southern region with a capacity of (600 cubic meters), as well as the Artawi field development project, and the water desalination project." The joint sea, which is the projects associated with the Ministry of Oil, as well as the solar energy project associated with the Ministry of Electricity with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts.
The Prime Minister indicated, according to the statement, "the importance of moving forward with energy projects that the ministerial platform has given priority and special importance to, as they represent the future vision of the national energy sector."
Al-Sudani stressed "the goal of achieving the optimal investment of the country's wealth of oil, gas and natural resources, and finding sources of alternative and renewable energy, instead of total dependence on fossil fuels."
He explained that "the government aims with its projects to reduce greenhouse emissions, achieve environmentally friendly projects, meet the growing demand for energy, and provide more job opportunities for the national workforce."
