    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

The Iraqi government has taken a package of tandem measures at the same time, which, according to observers, will lead to breaking the madness of high prices, whether in the dollar exchange rate or foodstuffs.
And in less than 24 hours only, 3 major government measures came in tandem against the price hike fever.
The first procedure was to dismiss the Governor of the Central Bank, Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif, and to refer the Director of the Iraqi Trade Bank, Salem Chalabi, to retirement, while Ali Al-Alaq, the former governor of the Central Bank, was appointed as acting governor, in addition to assigning Bilal Al-Hamdani to manage the Trade Bank of Iraq.
Al-Sudani described the departments that were assigned to the Central Bank and the Iraqi Trade Bank as "possessing skills and will work to reduce the rise in exchange rates, and the Iraqi financial situation is in its best condition."

Simultaneously, Al-Sudani announced the launch of the additional food basket, which will include, in addition to the quantities of the original food basket, the addition of (1 liter of oil - 1 kg of sugar - 200 gm of tea - 250 gm of milk - 1 kg of zero flour)", as more than 5 million and 76 thousand citizens will be included. With these quantities, which means adding about 18 thousand tons of foodstuffs per month, which will reduce the purchase demand in the local markets, which will lead to a decrease in prices.

As for the third measure, it was represented by the announcement of the Ministry of Commerce and the opening of direct selling centers to sell flour, eggs and many other foodstuffs at subsidized prices, at a rate of 30%, as the flour will be sold for 39 thousand dinars, while the flour will cost the state more than 55 thousand Iraqi dinars.

Today, Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani affirmed that "one of the government's priorities is to combat the phenomenon of poverty, and we have used measures to reduce and reduce it," noting that "the cabinet took a decision to improve the items of the food basket for the families of the social protection network."

He added that “securing this basket in quantity and quality addresses poverty for these families who do not have living cash other than the cash subsidies they receive from the Social Protection Authority,” noting that “previous governments were considering the decision to reform the ration card, but the current government has worked to implement that to reduce The effects of changing the exchange rate and rising prices.

And he continued, “There are those who took advantage of the case of the high exchange rate, and it is not a government decision, but rather an agreement between financial institutions and the central bank,” reassuring “the citizen that the price hike is a temporary matter and we are working to preserve public money and prevent smuggling, money laundering and currency speculation.”

He pointed out, "The state is capable and has the financial, administrative and legal capabilities to go to the markets and provide all the materials that the Iraqi citizen needs," stressing, "We will not tolerate any official or unofficial party that tries to harm the citizen's livelihood."

And he stressed, “Decisions have been taken against those who try to speculate and influence the market and the prices of goods by legal means,” pointing out that “and he mentioned, that” there are merchants who have a patriotic sense who will work to import foodstuffs in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce in order to help citizens and confront speculators, “explaining, More than 5 million families within social protection will be distributed to the additional basket.

And he indicated that “the state provides support to the citizen and those entitled to social protection.”

For his part, Trade Minister Atheer Al-Ghurairy confirmed that "the stores of the Ministry of Commerce are full of foodstuffs that are sufficient for three months," pointing out that "five ships of wheat will enter us in the coming days."

He pointed out, "The ministry will work to secure what the citizen needs and even market materials," pointing out, "There are those who are trying to manipulate prices, and we will work to confront them."
