    Baghdad - Conscious - Nassar Al-Hajj
Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs clarified the most prominent causes of the phenomenon of child labor in Iraq, while referring to the movement to amend the Labor Law to reduce this phenomenon.
The official for combating child labor in the Labor Inspection Department of the Ministry's Vocational Training Department, Hassan Abdul-Sahib, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the reasons that lead to an increase in the phenomenon of child labor despite all the Measures taken by the Ministry of Labor are the economic crisis the country is going through, and the increase in the level of poverty and the loss of a breadwinner for many families due to wars and conflicts, in addition to the lack of awareness of Labor Law 37 of 2015 and the penalties for those who violated the articles mentioned in combating child labour.
He added, "The Ministry of Labor, through the field visits of its committees, has monitored many child laborers in the markets," noting that "the Ministry has instructed employers to hold accountable violators, warn them, and refer them to labor courts in all operating sectors in the country.”
He stressed that "accounting processes do not rise to the required level due to the lack of inspection committees in Baghdad and in all governorates," noting that "the labor law covers the organized sector because there are those who can be held accountable as a matter of work, and this is not possible in the unorganized sectors that include stalls, intersections and street vendors.” ".
He stated that "work is underway to address this sector by amending Labor Law No. 37 of 2015," pointing out that "the Ministry of Labor included the children's segment in services if cases of children were detected, provided that the head of the family undertakes to return the child to school and not to return him to work again.”
