Today, Thursday, the office of Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani announced the establishment of 4 municipalities for the new cities.
The office said in a statement, "Based on the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, and in line with what was stated in the ministerial platform regarding solutions to the housing crisis, and based on Cabinet Resolution No. (23052 on January 25, 2023), which includes assigning the governorates the process of coordination with the Ministry of Housing." Construction, housing, municipalities and public works proceeding with the development of new cities outside the basic designs of the existing cities.
The office stated, "The Ali Al-Wardi Municipality was established in Baghdad Governorate, Al-Salam Municipality in Al-Najaf Governorate, Al-Mutanabi Municipality in Wasit Governorate, and Al-Diwaniya Al-Jadida Municipality in Al-Diwaniyah Governorate."
And he continued, "The process of completing the transfer of land ownership from the Ministries of Finance and Agriculture to the new municipal institutions is underway, in order to save effort and shorten the procedures, and according to the directives of the Prime Minister, as specialized committees have been formed in each governorate to follow up on the completion of land preparation and the initiation of urban planning and implementation of infrastructure." .
