The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has completed the procedures for increasing the salaries and subsidies of the Protection Authority and the People with Disabilities and Special Needs Authority, with the aim of launching it once the general budget is approved.
The ministry’s spokesman, Najm Al-Aqabi, told Al-Sabah: The ministry, in coordination with the Social Protection and Persons with Disabilities Authority, has completed the procedures for listing the data and lists of families covered by the increase in salaries and subsidies, pointing out that the number of those covered by the increase exceeded two million families, in addition to the elderly beneficiaries registered with the Authority for Persons with Disabilities. and the elderly, pointing out that the ministry is working to provide the necessary support for vulnerable groups and to address poverty and unemployment, as they are among the main problems in the country, in addition to monitoring humanitarian cases and expediting procedures for their inclusion in services.

He continued that the Social Protection Law guarantees the inclusion of the individual in the subsidy and not the family exclusively, because the provisions of the law apply to individuals and families who are below the poverty line, with priority given to people with disabilities and special needs, explaining that the Ministry succeeded in the process of delivering the voice of the poor and vulnerable groups by adding and fixing paragraphs In the government program pertaining to the beneficiaries, the most prominent of which is the increase in the number of those covered by the social welfare network and the increase in the subsidy rate, as well as the increase in the number of “full-time helpers” for the care of people with disabilities, and the increase in loans for supporting small projects.
Al-Aqabi stressed the direct procedures related to each category, by adopting the Ministry of Labor database, which includes the numbers of beneficiaries registered with it, especially the names that appeared in the results of the poverty analysis and advanced years ago, in addition to issuing loans to the beneficiaries.
