In evidence of the movement of the cultural wheel in the province, 200 local, Arab and foreign publishing houses, with a number of books exceeding 500,000 copies, are participating in the second edition of the Al-Najaf International Book Fair.
Haider al-Musawi, media official for the Najaf International Fair, told Al-Sabah that the exhibition started last Thursday and will last for 10 days, with the participation of 14 Arab and foreign countries, in addition to local participation.
He pointed to the participation of 200 publishing houses with a number of books amounting to more than 500,000 copies, which include various intellectual, religious and humanitarian topics.
And scientific.
He stressed that what distinguishes the exhibition is the diversity of the participating titles and their not being limited to one color of ideas and topics.
Al-Moussawi added that there are various activities that are held on the sidelines of the exhibition, including intellectual, cultural and scientific seminars in which a group of Arab and foreign researchers will lecture, in addition to allocating display places for children's books and intellectual games that bear the character of entertainment and education, indicating that the aim of the exhibition is to move the cultural wheel in Preserving and creating a cultural forum in which ideas from different countries of the world cross-fertilize by looking at the latest publications in various fields of literature and science.
For his part, the media spokesman for the Najaf Governorate Diwan, Ahmed Al-Fatlawi, praised during his interview with "Al-Sabah" the launch of the second edition of the exhibition, explaining that the success of the exhibition edition during the past year encouraged the province to hold the second edition, which we expect to be a distinguished success.
And he indicated that the annual book fair was launched in Najaf for the first time in 2007 and was organized by the Holy Shrine at the time, and it continued for several years, but it stopped due to some circumstances, and then the governorate began to reorganize it since last year to be an extension of the previous exhibition and for the city of Najaf to continue giving. And its distinction, which it used to, through the presence of the religious estate and the great references in it.
