The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan announced, on Tuesday, that it had completed all preparations to hold its fifth conference in Sulaymaniyah, indicating that the conference would elect a president for the union and a leadership council.
The leader of the Union, Ghiyath Al-Sourji, said in a press interview, “All the special procedures and preparations for the fifth general conference of the National Union were completed through the committees that were formed by the party leadership.”
He added, "The conference will continue for three days, and if there are no problems that may arise within the conference, a president of the National Union and not a Secretary-General will be chosen out of respect for the late Mam Jalal Talabani, " adding that "10 members will be elected to the political office."
He explained that "the number of participants in the conference is 600 members, and any member has the right to nominate for any position in the union," noting that "invitations were sent to all leaders and leaders of political parties and forces, including the Kurdistan Democratic Party, to attend the opening of the fifth general conference."[/rtl]
