    Shafaq News/ Member of the Advisory Board in the Council of Ministers, Joan Fouad Masum, indicated on Tuesday that the Iraqi government officially withdrew the Information Crimes Law from the House of Representatives in 2018.
    Masoum told Shafaq News Agency: “The Council of Ministers confirmed the withdrawal of the law again in the year 2023, and considered the law withdrawn from the corridors of the House of Representatives.”
    She pointed out that “the House of Representatives conducted first readings on the Cybercrimes Law at the end of the year 2022, and in light of that, a letter was sent from the government to the House of Representatives confirming the withdrawal of the law from it, and its reading is considered unofficial,” and she pointed out that “currently there is no draft of the Crimes Law.” information technology in the House of Representatives and is considered withdrawn from it.”
    She continued, "The Board of Advisors in the Council of Ministers conducted intensive meetings with many parties and held a series of dialogues and discussions with the security and service ministries, media professionals, and civil society organizations, and that the recent amendments to the Information Crimes Law were sent from the Board of Advisors to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, which in turn presents the law."
