    The Finance Committee, headed by Atwan Al-Atwani and in the presence of its members, today, Wednesday 11/15/2023, hosted at the committee’s headquarters the general directors of government banks, Al-Rafidain Bank, Al-Rasheed and Al-Nahrain Agency, the Real Estate Bank, the Agricultural Bank, and the Agricultural Cooperative Bank, to discuss the automation of the banking system. And the shift from paper to digital system.

    The Chairman of the Committee welcomed the bank managers, pointing out that “the Committee considers banks to be a fundamental pillar in achieving development, which stresses the necessity of following up on the work of banks in order to improve the performance of all sectors.” He added, "Banks have an essential mission in achieving development in accordance with the government program."



    Al-Atwani stressed the Finance Committee’s keenness to “proceed with practical steps with the aim of achieving optimal banking performance,” noting “the importance of speeding up the response to official communications related to the work of banks based on the constitution and the system,” according to a statement by the media department of the House of Representatives. 

    The committee discussed with bank managers the issue of contracting with reputable companies and the measures taken regarding system automation and electronic archiving to shift from the paper to digital system, in addition to working on implementing the comprehensive banking system and account management.

    The hosting dealt with how to provide banking services to citizens, facilitate the procedures for granting loans and initiatives, and implement government loans, where the general directors explained the procedures followed in order to provide the best services and deal with banking systems, as well as the suffering faced by the mechanism of implementing the work of banks and executing contracts, and the prepared plan. To automate the system, with the need to address problems related to it, while the importance of making appropriate amendments to the banking law was emphasized, according to the statement.
