Shafaq News/ The Iraqi politician residing in Washington, Nizar Haider, said today, Saturday, that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani was aware of the American bombing against the Popular Mobilization Forces units.
Haider told Shafaq News Agency, “The Iraqi government’s statement about not working with the American bombing against the PMF is incorrect,” noting that “Our information and sources confirm that the American ambassador informed Sudanese of these operations in her meeting the day before the military strike was carried out, after The failure of the Iraqi government to implement its obligations,” he said.
Haider said, “The American ambassador’s tweet in which she talked about her meeting with the Sudanese was as clear as sunlight at four in the morning, as she mentioned that she had discussed with him the Iraqi government’s steps to prevent attacks on American personnel,” pointing out that “the American side remained for more than a month.” It reminds the Iraqi side of its obligations to protect coalition members present in Iraq at the request of the Iraqi government, or it may expect a repetition of the airport operation.”
He stated that "Al-Sudani made great efforts to prevent factional attacks against the Americans, but it seems that he failed miserably in achieving progress in this regard. Therefore, Washington decided to respond within the framework of what is known internationally as (the right to self-defense), after a long patience that did not last long." She wanted to rush his decision because she did not want to embarrass the Sudanese, his government, and the Iraqi state.”
The Iraqi politician residing in Washington concluded by saying, “As a result of Washington helping the Sudanese in implementing his obligations, Washington took the initiative to provide him with detailed information, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, about every attack operation before its implementation, containing details about the time, place, and identity of the perpetrators. However, he failed every time.” To prevent any attack.
On November 22, American drones carried out strikes on the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces (Kataib Hezbollah) within the Al-Saeedat area in Jurf Al-Sakhar (Al-Nasr), killing six fighters from the Mobilization Forces and wounding two others.
The Iraqi government considered this bombing an “unacceptable violation of sovereignty,” and indicated that the bombing that targeted the “Jurf al-Nasr” area took place without the knowledge of government agencies, and stressed that it is exclusively concerned with implementing the law and holding violators accountable, and no external party has the right to perform this role on its behalf. This was in a statement issued by Basem Al-Awadi, the official government spokesman.
