The representative of the coordinating framework, Muhammad Saadoun Al-Sudani, confirmed on Monday that the governorate council elections will be held on the scheduled date next December, and there is no sign of postponing them, especially since most political parties are determined to go through the voting process according to the specified time frames for that.
Al-Sudani said, in a press interview, that “the political blocs and most parties in the political community are ready to run in the governorate council elections on the scheduled date during next December.”
He added, "The federal government has made all preparations to conduct the voting process according to the specified time frames, as it has completed all procedures in cooperation and agreement with the responsible authorities to ensure the success of this process."
He stated that "the issue of postponing the elections is only being mentioned in the media, and there is no initiative or direction by the government or political parties to move towards postponing the voting process to another time."
Al-Sudani pointed out, “The Commission has completed all preparations to conduct it on the specified date.”
