Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: The Kurdistan Region’s Council of Ministers called on the federal government to address the issue of the region’s salaries in a radical manner.
A statement from the regional government received by Al-Masala reported that the Kurdistan Regional Council of Ministers held its regular weekly meeting, headed by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and in the presence of Deputy Speaker Qubad Talabani. The meeting discussed a number of important issues on its agenda.
In the first paragraph of the meeting’s agenda, according to the statement, the concerned ministers presented the latest developments related to the issues of amending the Federal General Budget Law and the Oil and Gas Law, and stressed the continuing efforts to enrich the draft law amending the Federal General Budget Law until it is sent to the House of Representatives for approval, in order to ensure the allocation of entitlements. The Kurdistan Region's finances, especially the salaries owed to the Region, especially since the Kurdistan Region has fulfilled all its obligations, as both the Federal Financial Supervision Bureau and the Region have completed their audit and review tasks, while the Region has provided all necessary facilities in this regard.
The Council of Ministers in the region stressed that the entitlements of salary recipients in the region are their due financial rights, and we expect the federal government to address this issue in the new year 2024, and not mix it with political conflicts and other obligations, in a way that ensures that salary recipients in the region receive their financial rights on time, just like the rest. regions of Iraq.
The statement indicated that citizens did not receive their salaries for three months of the current year, due to the failure to send the region’s share of the general budget, which has burdened the salary recipients and the citizens of the region, financially and economically, as the federal government bears responsibility for this, and it is its responsibility to send the salaries due to the government. Kurdistan Region.
