    On Thursday, the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities set the opening date for the first projects to remove bottlenecks and refer 6 residential cities for investment.
    Ministry spokesman Nabil Al-Saffar said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and seen by Al-Eqtisad News, that “the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani contributed greatly to resolving the problems and conflicts that exist in most of the bottleneck-removal projects, as they contributed to accelerating their completion according to the timelines.” ", indicating, "The Prime Minister diagnosed some projects with conflicts, and he intervened directly in the presence of the concerned parties for these projects to resolve the problem of conflicts.”
    He added, "The Prime Minister's intervention put the projects, including those that were lagging, on the right track," noting that "the projects have begun to be completed and appear on the ground."
    He stressed, "With the beginning of 2024, a number of projects to relieve traffic congestion will enter service, including the Fine Arts Bridge Project, which will be one of the first projects to be completed. Other projects will also gradually enter service starting next June, including the Aden Square Project, the Cordoba Square Project, and the Bridges Project on the Canal." The army is witnessing increasing rates of achievement.”
    He stated, "The Al-Krayyat Bridge in the Al-Kadhimiya area will be completed in 2024."
    Regarding the rest of the sectors, Al-Saffar stated that “from the sale of projects that are close to completion is a residential complex project in Samawah that will open soon,” pointing out that “two residential complexes have been opened in Anbar, which will be distributed according to the eligible community groups approved by the National Housing Council in terms of people with special needs and martyrs.” The Popular Mobilization Forces, the Interior Ministry, the Defence, the widows, the displaced, and the humanitarian cases that were approved according to certain percentages.”
    He continued, "Two projects were also opened in Wasit and Salah al-Din, and there are water projects that will also be opened soon, as well as sewage treatment plants in some governorates."
    Regarding slums, Al-Saffar confirmed that “the latest United Nations statistics indicated that 9 percent of Iraqis live in slums, so the government’s direction was towards building new residential cities,” explaining, “At the beginning of next year we will witness the referral of 6 new cities for investment.”
    He stated, “Four residential cities have been referred and are in the process of completing their detailed designs and preparing feasibility studies for the purpose of starting implementation.”
