MP, Thaer Al-Jubouri, confirmed on Monday that the development road project will attract the largest agricultural investments the country has witnessed since 2003.
Al-Jubouri said in an interview followed by Mawazine News: “The development road carries within it 6 strategic points related to the economic dimension on At the global level, it will open horizons for the flow of investments in 8 important sectors, including industry, housing, free trade zones, the railway network, logistics, and petrochemical plants.
He added: "The development road will open wide doors for agricultural investments, as it will pass through several governorates, and modern agricultural mechanization methods can be applied in production, while exploiting its proximity to industrial areas to export products to countries around the world, especially since the low cost of transportation will attract many companies and investors."
He stressed that "the impact of the development road is not limited to economic dimensions only, but will be reflected in the map of the spread of cities," anticipating "the launch of a series of huge housing projects parallel to the stages of the development road."
Months ago, Al-Sawadni's government revealed the details of the development road linking the ports of Basra to Europe through land roads and a railway network.
