The Minister of Construction, Housing and Municipalities, Benkin Rikani, said that housing projects are a priority for the current government, while he revealed the imminent opening of the Fine Arts Bridge, which is the first project to relieve traffic congestion in Baghdad.
He said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that reaching the final completion stage represents a message that the government sends to the people, that it is fully prepared to fulfill the promises it made to the people, to bring about a positive change in the reality of project implementation, pointing out by saying: “Today we are facing proof.” presence, and we were able to implement the first projects that have a positive impact on the reality of daily life and reduce the suffering of citizens.”
Rekani added that housing projects represent one of the important axes in the government’s directions, as there are housing projects that will be implemented, including the five investment cities, and they will be followed by new housing projects that will alleviate chronic population pressure and its negative effects.
He pointed out that the Hawalli-Baghdad project is receiving government attention, and only one node remains, which will be completed next week to see the light after that, indicating that the project is one of the important projects and will reduce traffic pressure, and it will also work to achieve a high flow of traffic between... Governorates without entering the city of Baghdad, and this has great economic benefits, the most important of which is achieving rapid transportation of all goods.
President of the Iraqi Contractors Union, Ali Al-Sanafi, said: The completion of the Fine Arts Bridge project represents the first step on the path to achievements for the current year, as the coming days will witness the opening of this project and the follow-up of other projects within the same service.
He stated that the private sector proved its presence by completing the project according to international standards and during the completion period, despite the number of challenges at the project site.
He explained that Iraq, for the first time, is witnessing the achievement of a high flow in the implementation of projects, as providing all requirements for project implementation facilitated performance reaching its highest levels, pointing out that the evaluative oversight from the Minister of Construction and Housing had a positive impact on the implementation of all stages of the project.
He pointed out that the Union supports all companies that work to complete projects according to qualitative specifications and during the actual completion periods, as we communicate with the concerned authorities with the aim of creating a high flow in project implementation. He pointed out that the completion of this project represents the result of the boldest decision taken by the government of Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sawadni, to work on implementing a first package of projects followed by a second, and from here we can confirm that the private sector’s message indicates the possibility of qualitative implementation and with the required specifications.
As for the Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa, he pointed out that all the challenges facing this project, which suffered from the presence of several conflicts, including the density of vehicles, infrastructure, and others, were contained, pointing out that the coming days will witness the opening of this bridge, adding, “We worked to add beauty to this bridge.” Through drawings that illustrate the landmarks of the city of Baghdad.
He pointed out that this achievement came with great support from the Prime Minister and overcoming all obstacles, and it will be an important interface for the city of Baghdad.
In turn, the director of the Fine Arts Bridge Project, Ayman Safadi, said: The work continued for 24 hours from the first days of starting the implementation of this project, which led to reaching the last stage, to reflect the true image of the private sector and its ability to implement quality projects during the referral periods.
He praised the cooperation of the concerned institutions in providing the appropriate atmosphere that created a high flow in the implementation of the project.
