    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, confirmed today, Tuesday (January 23, 2024), that Iraq seeks to reach understandings on border security, while stressing the importance of adopting dialogue to resolve the outstanding issues and issues between Baghdad and Ankara.
Al-Maliki's media office stated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", "The head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, received in his office today the head of the Turkish intelligence service, Ibrahim Kalin, and his accompanying delegation."
He added, "At the beginning of the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop them were reviewed, as well as the challenges the region is witnessing as a result of the repercussions of the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip."
Al-Maliki stressed, according to the statement, “the need to strengthen and develop relations between the two countries in various fields, especially the energy and reconstruction sectors, stressing the importance of adopting dialogue to resolve the outstanding issues and issues between Baghdad and Ankara.”
He pointed out that "Iraq is working with neighboring countries to respect the sovereignty of countries, reach understandings about border security, and pursue all groups that aim to destabilize security and stability."
Regarding the current events in occupied Palestine, Al-Maliki called, according to the statement, “all countries of the region to support the Palestinian people in achieving their legitimate rights and to stop the crimes committed by the usurping Zionist entity against the defenseless Palestinian people.”
For his part, the head of the Turkish Intelligence Service extended the greetings of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Nouri al-Maliki, expressing “his country’s support for the security and stability of Iraq, and its aspiration to strengthen cooperation relations, especially in the fields of security, economy, and transportation.”
