The head of the General Tax Authority, Ali Waad Allawi, announced the move towards electronic transformation despite all the obstacles, while threatening those who object to the transformation with strict measures.
The head of the authority, Ali Waad Allawi, said, “The authority is continuing towards electronic transformation, but the infrastructure is weak, the legacy is heavy, and the resistance to change by those in the authority is great,” indicating that “this resistance will force us to take measures, including removing them from the authority and transferring them upon request to Concerned authorities.”
Allawi added: “The second step: We have information security, which is important, and we have all taxpayers, and data must be preserved, which requires time and effort,” adding: “We have an advanced step towards digital work, including amending laws and preparing recommendations and requirements for digital transformation, but We are waiting to choose a suitable company with a good reputation, which has delayed us.”
He pointed out that “tax payment has become electronic, in addition to work within the authority electronically, but we admit that our steps are timid because we need financial support, strong resistance to change, and support from the Minister of Finance and the Prime Minister. Although there is support, we need greater support.” Pointing out, “We are continuing despite all the obstacles.”
