The representative of the Hasm Alliance, Zuleikha Elias, spoke today, Tuesday, about the ambiguity of resolving the issue of the position of Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, noting that “our public is demanding their rights from us and we cannot do anything for them.”
Elias said in a statement, “The absence of the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives has lost many of the rights of the Sunni component,” indicating that “Taqaddum is not the only one who possesses leadership, and that there are determined figures who can lead the House in the best possible way.”
She continued, “The heads of the Sunni blocs are hiding the matter from us as representatives for the sake of political consensuses between them,” stressing that “Sunni politicians are responsible for the faltering role of Parliament in legislating the largest number of projects.”
It is noteworthy that the disputes between the Sunni blocs impede the progress of the political process in Iraq and disrupt the work of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, especially since the position of Speaker of Parliament has been vacant since the dismissal of the head of a party from which he came forward after lawsuits against him, including perjury, forgery, and dealing with Israeli companies.
