Fairbanks Alaska shattered world pollen record: More than 20 times above what is considered high!

ANCHORAGE – It’s a world record allergy sufferers may not be happy to hear about.
Fairbanks set it on Monday for the highest levels of birch pollen in a single 24 hour period.
Allergy doctor Jeff Demain said Monday’s count shattered the old world record that was set in Sweden several years ago.
Fairbanks set a new world pollen record this week.
The city is renowned for it's high levels of birch pollen but what happened this week was quite extraordinary and something which has never happened before.
Fairbanks recorded pollen levels this week at 4,000, to put that number into perspective, anything over a pollen count of 175, is considered high, 4,000 is more than 20 times above high!
And the experts are saying it's going to get worse before it gets better and they are warning people without allergies will suffer too.
The capitol of Alaska, Anchorage, the worst is yet to come, with experts warning it's going to be very bad this weekend and they are expecting a prolonged period of very high pollen readings.
