The study by the Federal Reserve in San Francisco, published on Monday, said its estimates indicate that the rate of participation in the overall workforce in its required context as of 2018.
"In addition to the low unemployment rate, this argues that the US labor market works within or beyond its full potential."
The rate of participation in the overall labor force is expressed in individuals aged 16 or older who are either working or seeking a job. This rate began to decline in the United States around 2000, and this trend accelerated at the time of the global crisis from 2007 to 2009, In stability thereafter.
The US unemployment rate is currently at a 48-year low of 3.7%.
The study showed that the rate of participation in the total labor force has stabilized since the year 2015 at 62.8%, noting that after examining the fundamental changes in the American population density taking into account the conditions of educational achievement, it concluded that this level represents a long-term trend of labor force participation.
At the same time, the report predicted that this trend will decline by 2.5% over the next 10 years.
