A statement by the Foreign Ministry, said that «Foreign Minister Ibrahim al - Jaafari met with his South Korean counterpart Yun Byung-Se in the capital , Seoul, and discussed with him bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them to serve the interest of both countries, and the overall security and political situation and the victories of the Iraqis in their war against terrorism» .
Jaafari confirmed Iraq 's interest to maintain relations between Baghdad and Seoul, and the importance of upgrading them to higher levels in all fields, pointing out that « the Iraqi armed forces have made a wonderful victories and liberated the city in record time, and made significant progress in its fight against gangs« Daesh »terrorist», adding that « the victory achieved demolished by the sons of our armed forces in various different forms and the unity of political forces , speech, and international support, and from the South Korean aid», expressing the thanks of Iraq and appreciation for its Seoul of aid, indicating that «Iraq is seeking to build long - term strategic partnership with South Korea, and welcomes the entry of Korean companies to invest, calling on the South Korean side to lift the ban on travel to the citizens of Iraq, and to increase the number of fellowships for Iraqi students in the South Korean universities.
For his part, Yun Byung-Se said, according to the statement, that «Iraq 's most important to us in the region , the state, and our goal to strengthen relations between our two countries, and to provide more support and support for Iraq in the fight against terrorism, and achieve greater economic cooperation», expressing hope that «Iraqi forces completed editing all the Iraqi lands from the grip of terrorism and Iraq takes big role in the Middle East».
At the end of the meeting the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the exchange of expertise and training of diplomatic personnel between the two countries and to coordinate political positions in international forums.[/rtl]
