The Iraq Energy Forum 2017 was concluded in Baghdad - Al Rasheed Hotel, which was held under the slogan "Iraq - Towards a Multi-Imported Energy Sector" under the auspices of the Iraqi Government. The forum was opened by Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and Speaker Salim al-Jubouri, with the participation of the forum's secretary-general Mohammed Barkindo.
In his speech, Abadi praised the "efforts of the forum" and called on the conference to "provide the government with more ideas to develop its investment plans."
He added that "billions of dollars have been lost previously because of the loss of planning," adding that "the government is moving toward building a strong Iraqi economy to promote the country and not rely on one source."
For his part, Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, Barkindo, praised the efforts of Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi for his leading role in the organization, where he managed in a short period to restore Iraq to the leadership it deserves, since OPEC was born in the capital Baghdad 57 years ago.
"The forum has produced many papers and economic reform programs in the energy sector, economy and development through plenary sessions and side workshops, and will work on developing an executive summary of all the recommendations of the experts to the Council of Ministers and MPs," he said in a speech. The forum discussed the future of the oil markets in light of the low oil prices and the multiplicity of conventional and non-traditional energy sources and renewable, and the impact of US policies on the volatility of markets and economies of oil exporting countries in the Middle East, especially Iraq, and the role of international oil companies in Iraq and ways to reduce risks, Investment.
The forum's focus also focused on the financial challenges of the Iraqi state and the review of the approved systems and the legal framework in the process of economic reform and re-reading of trade and banking policies and marketing strategies, and review of mega projects in the manufacturing industries and the electric power sector and gas investment, and planning towards balanced financial budgets and the multiplicity of state imports and preparation To the post-oil era and to work out systematic plans that address the challenges of population growth, unemployment and technological development, and look towards the future with a new horizon.
The Iraq Energy Forum concluded the work of Porsche in the design of structuring contracts in the field of oil and gas under the new changes, as well as the development of programs of partnership between public and private sector in the production of electric power.
