Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: The Sadrist Leader Muqtada al-Sadr warned the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that "his fate will be similar to Libyan President Mu'ammar al-Qadhafi if he did not step
    down".

In reply to a question by one of his followers , he added that "I did not ask al-Assad only, but called for other leaders in Yemen and Bahrain, because they suppress their people in the name of legality".

"The world should save the Yemeni, Bahraini and Syrian people before the events will reach to disastrous levels", al-Sadr added.

On 8 April, the Sadrist leader issued his statement on the US rocket strikes against Syria, calling the US and Russian administrations to "stop hurting Syria" and calling President Assad to resign.
