Araji: Saudi Arabia did not ask for any mediation with Iran!

The political scene   Saturday, August 19, 2017

Interior Minister Qassim al-Araji denied on Saturday that Saudi Arabia has asked Iraq for any mediation with Iran, pointing out that the delegations that visited the kingdom will pave the way for strengthening ties of cooperation and opening the horizons of communication in various political fields.

"Saudi Arabia has not asked Iraq for any mediation with the Islamic Republic of Iran," Araji said in a statement to Saudi Arabia's Al-Jazirah newspaper. "Saudi Arabia is able to build its relations according to its strategy and the interests of its people as it deems appropriate."

Al-Araji added that "the official delegations that visited Saudi Arabia will prepare in the coming days to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and open the horizons of communication in various political, economic, cultural and social fields, exchange experiences and serve the common interests and shed light on our Arab environment. "He said.

The Araji revealed during a press conference with his Iranian counterpart in Tehran that Riyadh had asked Baghdad to mediate with Iran after the recent tension in relations between the two countries.
