US oil inventories fell 5.8 million barrels

Data from the US Petroleum Institute showed US crude inventories fell last week, while gasoline inventories rose and distillate stocks fell.
Crude stocks fell 5.780 million barrels over the past week, while analysts expected a decline of 1.908 million barrels. The Petroleum Institute said crude stocks at the delivery point in Kashing, Oklahoma increased 582 thousand barrels.
Crude oil consumption at refineries increased by 28,000 bpd, the figures showed.
Gasoline inventories rose 476,000 barrels, while analysts in a Reuters poll forecast 989,000 barrels.
Distillate stocks, including diesel and heating oil, fell 486,000 barrels from expectations of a 846,000-barrel decline.
