The man who is about to become the king of Saudi Arabia is taking a more modern approach to a country that has been conservative for decades, as it prevents cinema and parties and prevents women trying to drive, the Associated Press reported.
Since the rise of Prince Mohammed bin Salman to power, with the support of his father, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, he is pushing for huge changes that could launch a new phase for one of the most important allies of the United States of America, and it can distance the Kingdom from decades of strict restrictions.
The US agency said it had begun to allow entertainment parties and movies, and women were allowed to drive from next year.
The Emir has captured headlines in recent days by promising to return to "moderate Islam". He also pointed out that his father's generation had set the country on a problematic path, and that it was time to "get rid of it."
Prince Mohammed bin Salman used his rare appearance on the podium at a major investor conference in the Saudi capital Riyadh this week to carry his message to a global audience.
