Economic expert Hamza al-Jawahiri announced that there are efforts to increase gas production in Iraq to 1.4 billion cubic feet per day.

The Jeweler said in a press statement: "Shell is now seeking to increase the production of gas in Iraq to reach in 2020 to one billion and 400 million cubic feet per day, having reached the quantities produced at the present time to one billion cubic feet."

He added: "The gas is still burning in large quantities, in addition to not resume the work of some of the facilities that have been completed to eliminate the phenomenon of burning gas."

"Iraq is producing one billion cubic feet per day, and when the facilities for processing the gas are completed, we will get rid of the process of waste gas, and it will be possible to produce more quantities."

"This will lead to the suspension of the import of gas from Iran, as well as the use of gas instead of crude oil in the power plants, which will increase the efficiency of the stations."
