The Iraqi side presented during the visit of Zarif to Iraq a proposal to establish a joint bank with Iran, the secretary of the Iranian-Iraqi Chamber of Commerce Hamid Hosseini announced on Monday.
"Our relations with Iraq were formed after the imposition of the embargo on Iraq and these relations have continued in the period of embargo against Iran, so relations between the two countries are not based on banking relations," said Hamid Hosseini, secretary of the Iranian-Iraqi Chamber of Commerce. .
He pointed to the absence of branches of Iraqi banks in Iran, saying, Iranian exporters can switch the dinar from Iranian banks in Iraq, and in Iran they can receive in exchange for the riyal from the National Bank.
Hosseini announced Iraq's readiness to establish a joint bank with Iran. He said that during the recent talks with Sharif, the Iraqi side talked about establishing a joint bank between the two countries. Rafidain Bank also announced its readiness to establish a branch in Iran.
