    The National Investment Commission issued a clarification on the rehabilitation and development of land adjacent to Baghdad airport, indicating the inviolability of private land occupied by citizens. 
    The Cabinet said in a statement that the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 175 of 2019 concerning the development of these lands in accordance with the Investment Law No. (13) for the year 2006 amended includes the following: 
    1- The investment includes part of the lands surrounding the Baghdad International Airport Of the 106 thousand dunums of land left for the State without prejudice to any rights of private lands and returned and occupied by citizens where they were excluded whether it was a residential role or facilities or agricultural land or projects and no health was raised on the acquisition of the Authority for those lands and confiscation of their owners for the purposes of the implementation of the project .
    2. The plan for the development and rehabilitation of the land surrounding the airport includes the establishment of commercial, economic, educational, research and medical services centers in addition to recreational and sports centers in accordance with the international standards, as well as the establishment of 5 thousand housing units owned by the Iraqi citizen, Economic development to the country through raising the value of land and the return of facilities to the state after the end of the period of investment in addition to providing employment opportunities for diverse populations of these areas and surrounding areas.
    3. The National Investment Commission approved the plan for the development and rehabilitation of the area mentioned above, amounting to 16 thousand acres according to the approved design, where the Cabinet approved the allocation of 4 thousand acres to the company Daiko global that the remaining investment of the area of ​​12 thousand acres by Iraqi companies and businessmen qualified to implement Such projects, noting that there are investment projects in this region have previous official approvals, but sluggish. 
    4 - The National Investment Commission is currently negotiating with investors and Iraqi companies to invest in another part of the remaining land 12 thousand acres and owned by the State and in line with the decision of the Council of Ministers mentioned above and according to the approved design.
    "It is surprised by the malicious media attack targeting the construction and reconstruction process in the country, and reminds us these days of the fierce campaign launched by similar parties on the Basmaya residential project, which is regarded by many as one of the most important urban landmarks in Iraq. 
    The statement came in response to statements by some MPs and the media that confirmed the transfer of land surrounding the Baghdad International Airport to the Investment Authority without monetary allowance or compensation in kind or material, considering the forced displacement of the people living in that region. 
    The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Halboussi, called on Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi to suspend the implementation of the Cabinet Resolution No. 175 of 2019 concerning the investment of land and real estate in the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport, due to complaints of irregularities and waste of public funds.
