Pompeo: Khamenei and his "gang" must change

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo launched a new attack on the government of Iran, stressing the need for the Islamic Republic's authorities to change their behavior.
Pompeo said, in a speech during an event dedicated to the situation of human rights in Iran, that "the wave of protests that the Islamic Republic witnessed last November is an indication that its people are fed up with the failure of the system economically, and the system that deprives it of basic human dignity."
Pompeo said that the United States "hears, supports and stands by the Iranian people" for "freedom, human dignity and respect," adding that the Iranian authorities are "out of the law in the eyes of the world."
Speaking of the Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, he added, "Ayatollah and his gang of thieves must change," blaming the Tehran government for the "intense hypocrisy" of "ignoring the rights and freedoms set forth in the constitution."
The US Secretary of State accused the Iranian authorities of deducting the funds of its people to fight the war in Syria and Yemen, noting that the strategy to satisfy the Iranian government that the administration of former US President Barack Obama did not bear fruit, and the administration of the current President Donald Trump began to take "deliberate and concrete" steps For Tehran.
In his speech, Pompeo affirmed that the United States imposed sanctions on the two Iranian Revolutionary Court judges, Muhammed Mugaise and Abu al-Qasim Sallawati, alleging that they were involved in human rights violations, and also announced Washington's decision to prevent the issuance of visas to members of the families of Iranian officials who are involved in the suppression of the recent protests.
