    Cairo - Mubasher: Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, discussed with Arkan Shihab Al-Shaibani, Minister of Communications in the Republic of Iraq, aspects of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of information, communication and postal technology, especially in the areas of digital transformation, building digital skills and providing postal services .
    The statement issued today, Tuesday, added that the results of the hypothetical meeting of experts from the Egyptian and Iraqi sides, which was held last February, were reviewed during the meeting; With the aim of mutual exploration of capabilities and resources available to each country in the telecommunications and information technology sector, and review of national challenges, and how to transform them into promising and great opportunities for cooperation between the two countries .
    Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, affirmed the distinction of Egyptian-Iraqi relations, expressing his aspiration for strengthening bilateral cooperation at the level of communications and information technology in light of the political visions agreement of the leaders of the two countries on the need to deepen joint relations at all levels . 
    He reviewed Egypt's digital strategy implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology according to three axes, which are digital transformation, building digital capabilities, and stimulating digital innovation, and based on three pillars, namely, developing digital infrastructure, mail, and providing the regulatory framework .
    He indicated the ministry's readiness to implement joint projects to support digital transformation, capacity building, and digital infrastructure development in Iraq, noting a thesis to start actual cooperation between the two countries in the field of communications and capacity building by hosting Iraqi youths to receive training in the ministry’s training institutes and Digital Egypt Innovation Centers .
    For his part, Arkan Shihab Al-Shaibani, Minister of Communications of the Republic of Iraq, affirmed the political leadership’s interest in Iraq and its direction towards deepening bilateral cooperation relations with Egypt, stressing his keenness to hold this meeting to activate cooperation between the two countries in all areas related to communications and information technology .
    He pointed out that he aspires to cooperate in the field of digital transformation and to benefit from the Egyptian expertise in this field to transfer the experience to Iraq in light of the state’s endeavor to transform into a digital society .
    The meeting witnessed the leaderships of the two ministries reviewing the proposed areas of cooperation, as Khaled Al-Attar, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Administrative Development, Digital Transformation and Automation, explained the strategic direction for the digital transformation in Egypt, which makes the citizen a key focus of digital transformation processes, referring to the most prominent achievements in the field of transformation into Digital government and e-governance efforts to optimize the use of resources, support decision-makers, and promote the values ​​of transparency, accountability and control for all businesses .
    For his part, reviewed Amr Mahfouz Chief Executive Officer of the Information Technology Industry Development " ITIDA", the proposed cooperation between the two countries in the field of IT industry development projects by sending to explore markets missions to identify opportunities for Egyptian companies to offer their products to serve the project of digital transformation in Iraq, It held activities to network cooperation between companies from both countries, as well as developing the capabilities of cadres from both countries at the technical and administrative level .
    Heba Salih, Director of the Information Technology Institute, explained that there is a matrix of initiatives launched by the ministry as part of its capacity-building strategy, which is being implemented through global partnerships to serve digital transformation projects and create distinct job opportunities for youth in all governorates .
    Saleh indicated the possibility of cooperation in spreading awareness of the services provided through the affiliated digital learning platforms launched by the ministry, as well as the future professions skills matrix and the establishment of periodic electronic workshops, along with providing training services, technical advice and transfer of expertise to trainers .

    Iman Ashour, Director of the National Communications Institute, stated that it is possible to cooperate through the institute in preparing the cadres specialized in the technologies necessary for digital transformation, which include optical fiber technology, artificial intelligence, the Internet of things and the safe use of mobile networks, with the possibility of working twinning with the Higher Institute of Communications and Post in Iraq to provide a diploma of studies. Higher education for Iraqi students in the fields of communication and the implementation of joint research between the two sides .
    While Hussam Othman, Adviser to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Technological Creativity, Electronics Industry and Training, affirmed that the Technology Innovation Center is ready to share activities and transfer expertise with the Entrepreneur Center in Iraq to provide a package of integrated services that stimulate technological innovation and to obtain international accreditation from the European Business Network, as well as obtaining membership The Arab Network for Incubators and Technology Zones, in addition to implementing programs to stimulate entrepreneurship, and online courses to train trainers in Iraq, as well as for examples of university students and women .
    Mr. Azouz, Vice President of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority for Infrastructure, explained; Egypt's efforts in the field of satellites, and the role of the satellite "Tiba 1" in advancing development by providing communications infrastructure; He indicated that the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority is ready to cooperate and transfer the Egyptian expertise to the Iraqi side in this field .
    Walid Zakaria, Executive Director of the National Center for Computer and Network Emergency Preparedness, also discussed the proposed steps for capacity-building and the strategic plan for cybersecurity for the Iraqi side, referring to the Egyptian experience and international cooperation between Egypt and a number of countries in the field of cybersecurity through the establishment of teams and laboratories for these centers and Egypt's readiness to provide its expertise. For the Iraqi side in this field .
    Saif Muneeb, Executive Vice President for International Affairs and the operators of the company, pointed out to Telecom Egypt’s capabilities in the fields of interconnection, international connectivity and the company's international secure network. Explaining the proposed areas of cooperation between the two countries in the field of digital infrastructure .
    The Iraqi side shared its proposals to support bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of communications and information technology, and the two parties agreed to frame areas of common interest through a memorandum of understanding that reflects the future cooperation that was discussed .
