Karwan Surji, a spokesman for the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Kurdistan Region, revealed, on Wednesday (October 20, 2021), the region’s desire to attract Qatari investments to Kurdistan, explaining that there are many opportunities for Doha to invest in it in the region.
Sorji said, in a statement to  IQ News, that "the Kurdistan region aspires to strong economic relations with the State of Qatar, as it is an important country for the Kurdistan region," expressing his hope that "the recent visit of the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani to Doha, will contribute to attracting Qatari investments to the region." .
He added that "the region desires to establish Qatari investment projects in Kurdistan," noting that "there are many opportunities in the region for the State of Qatar to invest in, especially in the fields of natural gas, agriculture, dairy and strategic investments."
He explained that "the decision of the State of Qatar to open a consulate in Erbil will contribute to activating the trade and investment movement," stressing at the same time the region's readiness to provide all facilities to Qatari investments.
On Sunday (October 17, 2021), the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, visited the State of Qatar and met with its Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and a number of Qatari officials. During the visit, they discussed bilateral relations and the development of relations in the economic, trade and investment fields.
