    [size=45]On Thursday, Adviser to the Iranian Guide for International Affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati, discussed with former Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi the recent Iraqi elections, stressing Tehran's permanent support for Baghdad.[/size]
    [size=45]This came during the reception of the Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's advisor to Abdul-Mahdi, in the capital, Tehran.[/size]
    [size=45]Velayati said, "The relations between Tehran and Baghdad are unparalleled and deepened," stressing that "Iran will always remain on the side of the Iraqi government and people."[/size]
    [size=45]He explained that "the relations that exist between the Iranian and Iraqi peoples are less than their counterparts in the world, and that these ties are deep and ancient," praising at the same time "the role of Abdul-Mahdi and his like among the competent Iraqi politicians."[/size]
    [size=45]Velayati expressed his aspiration to "achieve basic achievements thanks to the Iraqi experiences, and to serve the Iraqi people, and that Iran is satisfied with the cooperation of the two countries in the academic fields as well."[/size]
    [size=45]Regarding the recent Iraqi elections, Khamenei’s advisor said, “This legal entitlement is an indication of the deep and rich intellectual and cultural maturity enjoyed by the people of Iraq,” expressing his hope that the parliamentary elections will lead to “results that advance the process of prosperity in this country more and more.”[/size]
    [size=45]For his part, Abdul-Mahdi presented an overview of the current political situation in Iraq, including the election process, noting that the country is facing “difficult circumstances, but the people, with their will and power, can get out of them in peace.”[/size]
